Stinson-Remick Hall Project Location: The building is located between McKenna Hall and the Hesburgh Center for International Studies.
This is the first project designed for the University that is seeking LEED Certification. The building is three stories above grade with a full basement totaling 163,500 square feet. Also contained in the building is a 9,000 square foot clean room. The primary functions of the building will be to provide spaces for undergraduate teaching in the Learning Center and also graduate and post doctorate research in various centers and labs.
Project Status: The building was formally put into use on January 12, 2010 when the first group of students began using the Learning Center spaces. As of the end of January, nearly all the research labs have been moved from Cushing and Fitzpatrick Halls into the building with the final lab moves to be completed in February. The first wave of research tools has been moved into the clean room with the second and third waves of research tools to be moved into the clean room in the upcoming months. Space that was left unfinished for future growth is now being designed for other researchers that will be moving into the building.

The recent opening of the Purcell Pavilion was a very successful event. The 47,000 square foot addition provides a new merchandise outlet at the Leep Varsity Shop, an expanded concessions menu at a new concessions location, and a new hospitality experience at the Naimoli Family Sports Club that has received positive reviews from its numerous patrons and guests. With the recent completion of Stinson-Remick Hall the College of Engineering has added approximately 161,500 gross square feet to their facilities. The added space allows the College to move existing research laboratories into the building which will in turn free up space in Cushing and Fitzpatrick halls allowing for additional growth in those facilities. The McCourtney Learning Center has been well received by the students. At all times of the day and night, one can find students gathered in study groups or taking advantage of a quiet niche for homework. The project is in the submittal process with the US Green Building Council seeking LEED certification for the facility. It is anticipated that the final LEED certification will be received in the second quarter of 2010. To view further details and pictures, please click Purcell Pavilion or Stinson-Remick. |
